Emil Ernebro & Filip Jers

Emil Ernebro (guitar) and Filip Jers (harmonica) are two unique musicians on the Swedish music scene. The duo formed in 2017 but had been encouraged for years by others to play together. Ernebro and Jers push the boundaries of what their instruments can do and sound like. Acoustic guitar and harmonica have an earthy sound that many people can relate to. Emil Ernebro's guitar playing is world-class, and Filip Jers has been called "The Swedish Harmonica Sensation" by international music journalists.
Their repertoire consists of songs from the American folk and jazz repertoire, pop songs from the 60s and 70s, and Swedish folk songs. The key words for their music-making are joy of playing, spontaneity, and swing! In the spring of 2019, they released their debut album "Duet," which was enthusiastically received by both audiences and critics. The album has also been played extensively on Swedish Radio. In the summer of 2019, Ernebro & Jers performed on "Allsång på Skansen" in front of a million viewers in a live TV broadcast.

"In the Spirit of Toots Thielemans"

"In the Spirit of Toots Thielemans"

Harmonica player and jazz musician Toots Thielemans played his way into the hearts of jazz audiences with playful ease and soul. 2022, Toots would have turned 100, and this concert is a tribute to the master. Who better to do it than Sweden's own harmonica virtuoso, Filip Jers?

Filip met Toots on several of the master's many tours in Sweden and had the chance to both talk and play music with him. Toots was careful to point out that it was okay to imitate him, but that the most important thing was to find your own sound as a musician and harmonica player.

In this concert, Filip takes Toots' words to heart and draws inspiration from his impressive career spanning six decades. Starting with Toots' love for Sweden and his collaborations with Swedish artists, the concert offers a musical odyssey spanning well-known, beloved melodies such as Toots' own Bluesette, Dunderklumpen, and standards from his repertoire, to newly composed pieces inspired by Toots' musical expression and joie de vivre. The music is performed in close collaboration with the Carl Bagge Trio.

Pianist Carl Bagge is one of Sweden's busiest musicians and arrangers. He is also one of the most versatile. In recent years, he has accompanied rising star Isabella Lundgren, as well as Robyn and Ann-Sofie von Otter. Carl Bagge is a soloist and arranger with the big band Ekdahl/Bagge Big Band, featuring some of Sweden's leading jazz musicians.

Filip Jers Quartet

Filip Jers Quartet
The Filip Jers Quartet is a unique ensemble on the Swedish music scene. A jazz quartet led by a harmonica, they create an exclusive sound and the group's interplay both enchants and moves.

In this concert, you will experience the quartet's latest repertoire, consisting of innovative interpretations of classical music pieces. The Filip Jers Quartet is pushing forward by going back in music history and interpreting music by composers such as Handel, von Bingen, Boulanger, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms.

A jazz standard, a Swedish folk song, and a traditional folk song are also promised.

About the latest album "Plays Classical":

"The arrangements are eventful and imaginatively put together, and the playing is light, elastic, and playful, without being disrespectful to the originals." - Alexander Agrell, Sydsvenskan

"The project is charmingly executed, not at all stiff. I particularly enjoy the ultra-dynamics created in Atlantis studio, where subtle nuances have been prioritized. The intuitive interplay is of the highest possible level." - Mats Hallberg, Orkesterjournalen

"In every piece, there are strong splashes and broad sections of jazz with a deep respect for the classical music form. The interpretations smell of free improvisation, there is both playfulness and untamed strength in the music. And the quartet paints in a strong color palette with both intensity and emphasis." - Bo Bjelvehammar, Tidningen Lira

The group won "Best Group" at the European Jazz Competition in the Netherlands in 2014, "Album of the Year Folk Music" at the Manifest Gala in 2015, and in 2016 Filip Jers received the award "Jazzkatten - Musician of the Year" from Swedish Radio P2.
